The Big Question

I think even though where we start off in life is defined by our parents,we're really the ones who can change or not change our fate. If we put in the effort,we can be successful. An example of this is the Canadian rapper K'naan. He was born in a very small town in Africa to a family with very little money. All through his childhood he dreamed of performing on stages all around the world. His family moved to Canada and K'naan taught himself English all by himself. After he was confident enough,he went around to different record companies with pieces of his rapping ability and showed them his talent. Finally, after much difficulty, he was signed. See, even though he started off with nothing, he set his mind to it and he succeed.
However, things are much more different than they were 100's of years ago. Back then, if you were born poor, you stayed poor, and there was nothing you could do about it. Serfs stayed serfs and royalty stayed royalty. Over the years, From middle ages to Renaissance times to modern day, our control over who we want to be has changed. We now have the choice to make something out of ourselves, something people long ago could only dream about.

  2. Good example with K'naan Paula! Though you forgot to mention how exactly this example relates to Cue for Treason. How did our control of who we are change since middle ages? What was the cause? Also what was the main cause of us staying how we were in the middle ages? Why could someone not decide to be someone else? Great job with grammar and spelling, though it is a little vague.
