Cue For Treason starts out as a story about a group of people who have banded together because the landlord or knight of the land they live on place a huge border around the land so that the people could not use the extra land. The main character, Peter, was the lookout of the operation. The operation was to knock down the border as an act of rebeling against Sir Philip, the knight who put up the border. The operation was going well until Sir Philip and his knights showed up and all the people dispersed. One of the group members convinced Peter to throw a rock at Sir Philip. When he threw the rock, it missed Sir Philip and one of the people shot at him which knocked his hat off. Peter then fled the scene and left his hat at the scene. His hat had his name on it which might cause trouble in the future. The next day, two men come to Peter's class with Peter's hat and asks Peter's teacher about it. Peter then swiftly left during break and went into the forest for a stroll. Peter's friend informs him of the men searching for him, and Peter gets his horse and leaves. Before he leaves though, his father gives him 5 shrillings.
This story will probably follow Peter on his journey to erase his name off of Sir Philip's kill list. This also relates to the big question as Peter is trying to "change his stars" or in his case, try to survive and clear his name against Sir Philip which was a very hard task in the olden times in my opinion. I also found it interesting that Sir Philip would still try to go after him after something so petty. I get all the I'm the boss so I can't let him disrespect me like that, but in my opinion, it's a waste of time.
